Dilemma, that many of middle-class people face nowdays. 28 days left.
It's time to have a fair analyze.
Let's imagine the analyze like a 5-round boxing match on five very important topics : program, people,the degree of economic liberalism, level of populism and ability to fulfill own ideas.
Round 1 - Program
I viewed the presentations of "Ukrainsky proryv" (Download sm6_presen_program_proryv.ppt
)
and the ideas were quite good. Of course there were not too many clear actions, as usual a lot of promises, nonetheless it is a good try.
The program is widely advertised, so may people may even read it. It is fantastic tendency the Ukrainian political party is trying to attract supporters by advertising own program, isn't it ?
Additionally BUT runs www.kraina.org.ua which is good online project for new ideas.
In comparison Nasha Ukraina will present its program first time tomorrow. The name "For people, not for politicians" does not sound like "A brand new strategy to make Ukraine competitive".
Undoubtedly, BUT: Nasha Ukraina 1:0
Round 2: People
From the current politicians I trust Yatseniuk and Pynzenyk the most. But it seems Yatsenyuk has more liberal views and he is not afraid of unpopular steps. I really remembered one his interview to Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, where he said "from economic point of view it is absolutely unjustified to build a gas lines to remote villages". It was really brave for Ukrainian politician !
True that Pynzenyk is a smart economist as well, however in his last interview he does not mind new legal proceedings on privatized enterprises. In my opinion, even if 1 bln UAH fair value had been sold for 1 UAH , for the sake of investors, we should not bother with it.
Also, it is also important that Nasha Ukraina has Grytsenko.
As a result, BUT : Nasha Ukraina 1:1
Round 3: Economic liberalism
I party rely on 1st of Septemeber Korrespondent's publication "Gradus levizny" which gives Nasha Ukraina 7 out of 10, while BUT gets only 4.5. Similarly the USA republicans are rated 9, and Democrats - 6.
My political reading and watching "Svodoba Slova" also gives me a feel that BUT tends to regulate economy more. Therefore, as supporter of free economy, I give this round to Nasha Ukraina.

Round 4: Level populism
I hate populists ! All social promises about higher salaries, higher pension, low prices make me sick ! The only social payment which I support is tranche to the family of newly born baby. The baby can't work, everyone else must work.
Usually Tymoshenko had been a greatest populist in this country. She always promised a lot, without clarifying the ways to find money. However the situation has changed. While BUT and Tymoshenko are being rich enough in their promises, I was shocked by Kyrylenko's speech at Nasha Ukraine convention. Higher pensions ! Increase salaries again ! More benefits, more state protection ! Let's rock and roll baby, ye. The only thing he forgot to mention is where money would come from and what would be beyond the strategy of constant social payments increases.
Also to mention that I respect Lutsenko, although his left views. But I am sick and tired of his populism as well !
Surprising as it is, but BUT as less populist party wins this round.
Therefore, BUT : Nasha Ukraina 2:2
Round 5: Ability to fulfill own ideas.
BUT kept all deputies from the last Rada, so it is quite homogeneous. In the times when fast and somewhat radical decisions are needed for the country the duputies will follow their leader. And the leader itself is absolutely outstanding personality ! Those people I suggest will try to implement own ideas.
Even though Nasha Ukraina accumulated many democrats, I feel it is not very stable union. Of course this time they will not negotiate with Regions and BUT at the same time. But at the level of single law there could be many difficulties in agreeing for instance the Lutsenko's people and Pravytsia interests.
Due to this the FINAL SCORE is BUT : Nasha Ukraina 3:2
It will be odd for a long-term supporter of Nasha Ukraina and Yuschenko to vote for BUT. On the other hand it will be absolutely right of Reformy and Poriadok party's member to vote for own block. For the prosperity of our country I hope they win together.
